1. Outline
Using recycled industrial resource, this product reduces the cost by more than 20% of raw materials, has a superior compressive strength, and is 20% lighter weight because of our Swat, and in-Flux processes.
2. Introduction
2-1. Process
- Swat process: A process for stabilization. Minimize reactivity by evenly mixing raw materials such as recycling resources and clay, and eliminate volatility of heavy metals (Fig. 1).
- In - Fulx process: A process for increasing the strength of products and lowering the sintering temperature through liquid phase sintering. Vitrify heavy metals, clay and silica at a low temperature (Fig. 1).
2-2. Characteristics of the product
- This product has superior compressive strength, and is more than 20% lighter compared to existing brick/sidewalk block. The product will contribute to the environmental protection by using the industrial recycled materials, whose recycled material ratio is more than 50% , and will have a competitive price reducing more than 20% of the cost of raw materials.
- This product is environment-friendly, because heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cr, Cu, etc.) are stabilized through the vitrification. Furthermore its emissivity of far the infrared radiant is superior.
3. Characteristics
3-1. Technological aspect
- Stabilizing recycled resources and securing a technology of using solid recycled resources: There is no need to secure landfill sites and value-added products are made, for harmful substances can be stabilized when making products.
- Developing a wet process for non-plastic powder: This technology substitutes every non-plastic solid recycled resource for raw materials of ceramic products, which uses clay, and makes products from various materials.
- This technology enables value-added products and a core technology in developing far infrared radiant materials and shielding materials using the recycled resources.
3-2. Career
- The major problem of using recycled resources is a low economical efficiency due to low-level technologies. This technical problem causes other pollution in the process of recycling materials and thus the economic value of recycled materials is not great enough.
- The economical efficiency of the technology is not great because a manufacturing process is separated from a stabilizing process. The two processes should be combined to improve economical efficiency.
. There is no commercialized product using similar technology in the country.
. Japan produces permeable blocks for paving made from incineration ash at the department of sewage but its economical efficiency remains low due to the high price (5,000 won/piece).
- Even developed countries have failed to develop a technology for using recycled resources with high economical efficiency.
4. Application
- Statistics on the generation amount of recyclable resources is not accurate due to the inadequacy of the current technology. Thus, technology for using various recycled materials can enhance the transparency of the generation amount.
- Developing value-added products by adding functionality and stabilizing harmful substances of solid recycled resources can improve a public awareness of recycled materials, and thus can eliminate the reluctance to products made from recycled materials.
- The technology uses incineration ash of sewage sludge, which is being buried or thrown into the ocean, to make permeable blocks for paving, and reduces environmental costs and treatment costs for sewage sludge generated about 1.5 million tons (22,000 won ~ 30,000 won/ton) per year. The technology also diversifies the construction and ceramic products made from incineration ash, and promote usage of those products. This technology will help sewage and wastewater treatment companies and domestic industry to grow by making new profits. |
