Contents 1. Outline

RDF plants are compose of several main processes like as transportation, separation, drying, pelletizing. Some equipments and systems already developed and commercial running in many fields, but in case of separation and pelletizing system the technical level is low and acutely want to develop the high efficiency equipments.

- The purpose of this study to develop the separation and pelletizing process that are below the level than the advanced nations by our own technology. The separation system could separate nonferrous metals, glasses, pottery, stones from wastes, the capacity is 2tons per hour and the efficiency is over than 95% in municipal wastes, over than 80% in plastic wastes by wind. It's consist of 2 steps and adopt airtight system and inter circulations system to improve the efficiency and prevent air pollutions.

- The Ring-dies pelletizer could produce small size RDF as 10-30mm dia. and 20-70mm length to increase the utilizations of RDF. This pelletizer produce RDF in extrude process without heating to deduct the odor and air pollution in production process.

2. Characteristics

2-1. The principals of technology

-The wind separator could separate noncombustible materials to be incongruent in RDF like as metals, nonferrous metals, glass, pottery, stone etc in smashed and dryed wastes to prevent damages of crusher and pelletizer. We adopt airtight and inter circulation system in wind separator to prevent disperse of dust and wastes and also install the sensors and sight glass to improve the operation efficiency.

-We adopt the Ring-Dies pelletizer to produce small size RDF and to prevent air pollution in production process, low eiectric consumption and easy maintenance. Ring-Dies pelletizer consist of feeding part, dies nozzle, roller, electric motor and other accessories and produce RDF by rotating dies without heating. The pelletizer produce small size RDF as 10-25mm dia. with dryed and crushed wastes and easily adjust the length of RDF without electric power.

2-2. High efficiency wind separator

2-4-2. Ring-dies type pelletizer

Noramally apply the some kinds of forming machines in waste treatment system like as screw type , flat dies type, ring-dies type, melting type. Each type of machines have special features but also have some weak points.

In case of screw type, electric consumption is high and severe abrasion of screw, difficulty of maintenance. In case of flat-dies, also severe abrasion of dies and roller and waste should dryed lower humidity so it's very difficult to meet forming conditions.

4. Applied Fields

RDF system is recognized as a good scheme for waste treatment system and RDF also evaluated as a good alternative fuel, Our company already developed the RDF plants for municipal waste, marine waste, and RDF plant for plastic waste and industrial waste is in operation. RDF plants for municipal waste, marine waste, industrial waste will be increase rapidly. we will apply this high efficiency wind separator and pelletizer in all kind of RDF plants. As the result of this study we developed the high efficiency of wind separator and pelletizer, it's a good opportunity to promote performance of RDF plant.

5. Expectation Effects

- The first RDF plant for municipal waste in Korea, establish the model facility of waste treatment system.

- RDF provide easy transportation storage various utilization like as RDF boilers, RDF power plants, assistance energy for power plant and industrial facilities. Wonju city also have a plan to utilize RDF as assistance energy for city hall. RDF will provide security of high caloric renewable energy.

- RDF plant is a environment-friendly facility, so solve the social waste problem NIMBY, NUMTO.

- Contribute settlement of recycle for resources.

6. Career

- Applied RPF plant for plastic waste in Gimhae City
- Ordered RDF plant for municipal wastes in WonJu City and will apply them
