Panama's government expects to have a natural gas law in place by the end of the year, an official from the energy department told BNamericas.
Last month, the department and public services regulator Asep began a public consultation for a bill, available here, to promote and regulate gas use in the country. The process has closed and comments have started to be evaluated, said the official.
Although Panama's hydrocarbons law includes gas within exploration and production, this is not sufficient for other activities in the gas chain, according to authorities (see infograph below).
