|Title||[KEEI] S. Korea, U.S. to hold high-level committee talks on atomic energy cooperation|
South Korea and the United States will hold a session of their high-level commission on bilateral atomic energy cooperation this week in Washington, Seoul's foreign ministry said Tuesday.
On Thursday, Seoul's Vice Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette will jointly preside over the meeting of the High Level Bilateral Commission that will bring together some 60 officials from the two governments.
At the session, the allies plan to discuss a range of issues, such as their respective policies on atomic energy, nuclear reactor exports and nuclear nonproliferation and security.
The commission was installed in line with the bilateral civil atomic energy cooperation accord last revised in 2015.
"This meeting, which will be held for the first time since the launches of the two countries' current administrations, is expected to serve as a good opportunity to reaffirm their will to strengthen strategic atomic energy cooperation and find new areas of cooperation under their atomic energy policies," the ministry said in a press release.
