Taiwan's labour ministry is consulting on draft rule changes, requiring more detailed information when companies apply for confidentiality on hazardous chemicals under labelling rules.
The change to the existing rules would include making companies supply Cas numbers, which would also be required on safety data sheets.
The rules would apply to chemical manufacturers, importers or suppliers of hazardous chemicals, including mixtures.
The changes are to Article 18 of the Regulation of Labelling and Hazard Communication of Hazardous Chemicals. Applications under this require documentation showing that the withholding of details of chemical ingredients is necessary for national security or trade secret protection.
