The US EPA has added additional data and reopened the comment period for proposed amendments to a TSCA significant new use rule (Snur).
The action relates to oxazolidine, 3,3′-methylenebis[5-methyl-, a substance approved for use as a metalworking fluid in September 2012.
The proposed changes, originally published on 8 February, concern its use as an anti-corrosive agent in oilfield operations and hydraulic fluids. The agency received a significant new use notice (Snun) last April for this application, but it identified toxicity concerns from it.
